Recently, we had the pleasure of filming a wedding at the breathtaking Pier One Sydney – one of Sydney’s most iconic waterfront venues. This assignment was particularly special, as it included a same-day edit (SDE), which added an exciting layer of magic to the couple’s celebration. The edited video, crafted on-site and played during the reception, allowed the couple and their guests to relive the day’s most memorable moments almost immediately.
A Dream Wedding at Pier One Sydney
Nestled under the Sydney Harbour Bridge with stunning views of the Opera House and harbour waters, Pier One is a sought-after venue for couples looking to combine modern elegance with Sydney’s iconic landscape. Our goal was to capture the love, joy, and excitement that filled every corner of Pier One. From the bride’s stunning entrance to the couple’s intimate exchange of vows against the Sydney skyline, we recorded each precious detail that made this wedding a beautiful, timeless celebration.
The Same-Day Edit: A Real-Time Celebration
The highlight of this assignment was creating a same-day edit (SDE) video – an artful compilation of the day’s key moments, edited on-site and shared with the guests at the reception. Same-day edits require meticulous planning and skill, as the editing team works against the clock to compile a heartwarming video that reflects the essence of the day.
To ensure everything went smoothly, we carefully mapped out the day's timeline, ensuring our team captured all the essential shots early on to allow time for the edit. Working behind the scenes, we pieced together moments from the morning preparations, the couple’s first look, the ceremony, and the post-ceremony celebrations. The SDE video was then projected during the reception, giving everyone a chance to relive the romance and joy of the day.
Watching the newlyweds and their guests react to the video was a rewarding experience. The SDE not only heightened the emotions in the room but also offered a beautiful recap that everyone could enjoy together, creating a shared memory in real time.

Same Day Edit (SDE) | Wedding at L'Aqua Sydney
I am thrilled to share with you this Same Day Edit video of a Hong Kong couple who live in Sydney.
On the day we started filming in early morning at 9am to capture their preparation, followed by a Chinese traditional wedding ritual - tea ceremony (at both bride and groom’s houses). Then we headed to L’Aqua for the civil ceremony and reception.
Our same day video editor commenced editing right after the civil wedding ceremony, at about 9pm the video was played at the big screen. I received a very positive feedback from the couple.
