How to Choose the Best Wedding Videographer in Sydney
How to Choose the Best Wedding Videographer in Sydney
Finding the perfect wedding videographer in Sydney can be overwhelming, but choosing one that captures natural, candid moments will make all the difference. In this guide, we’ll help you pick the right videographer by exploring style, portfolios, reviews, and key factors to consider. If you’re looking for a cinematic and heartfelt wedding film, Sunny Siu Films specializes in telling love stories through authentic and timeless visuals.
Your wedding day is one of the most important moments of your life, and capturing it in a way that truly reflects your love story is essential. With so many talented wedding videographers in Sydney, how do you find the perfect one for you? If you’re looking for a candid, natural, and cinematic style, here’s a guide to help you choose the best wedding videographer for your big day.
1. Define Your Style
Every videographer has their own approach, so understanding what style speaks to you is key. At Sunny Siu Films, we specialize in a candid, storytelling approach, capturing genuine emotions and unscripted moments that make your wedding day unique. Rather than staged shots, we focus on the laughter, tears, and little details that truly matter.
2. Check Their Portfolio
A great wedding videographer should have a portfolio that reflects their expertise and style. Watch multiple wedding films to see if their work resonates with you. Do their videos feel natural and immersive? Do they tell a compelling love story? At Sunny Siu Films, we craft cinematic wedding films that feel personal and timeless, ensuring every couple’s story is beautifully told.
3. Read Client Reviews
Reviews and testimonials from past couples can give you insight into what it’s like to work with a videographer. Look for feedback on their professionalism, communication, and ability to capture special moments. Our couples often praise Sunny Siu Films for our unobtrusive presence, making them feel comfortable while filming their big day.
4. Understand Their Approach
Some videographers direct a lot, while others take a more observational approach. If you prefer a natural, documentary-style video where moments unfold organically, then a candid videography style like ours might be the perfect fit. We focus on capturing the day as it happens, so your wedding film feels authentic and heartfelt.
5. Discuss Packages and Pricing
Wedding videography is an investment, so be sure to discuss pricing, packages, and what’s included. Whether you’re looking for full-day coverage, highlight reels, or a feature film, make sure the package aligns with your vision. At Sunny Siu Films, we offer flexible packages tailored to your needs.
6. Meet Your Videographer
Your wedding videographer will be with you throughout the day, so it’s important to choose someone you feel comfortable with. We believe in building a genuine connection with our couples to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable experience. A good rapport leads to a more natural and emotional wedding film.
7. Ensure They Work Well with Your Photographer
Your videographer and photographer should work seamlessly together. Since both are capturing your wedding day, their styles and approach should complement each other. At Sunny Siu Films, we collaborate effortlessly with photographers to ensure every special moment is documented beautifully.
8. Book Early!
Top wedding videographers get booked months (or even years) in advance. If you’ve found a videographer whose work you love, don’t wait too long to secure your date!
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right wedding videographer in Sydney is about more than just filming your day—it’s about preserving the emotions, the atmosphere, and the love you share. If you’re looking for a candid, cinematic, and heartfelt wedding film, Sunny Siu Films would love to be part of your special day.

Wedding live stream in 2022
I hope everyone has been safe and healthy during New South Wales lockdown.
As New South Wales will soon achieve 70% vaccination rate, I believe wedding restrictions will be eased by the end of 2021 and we can have more freedom and back into our business. My guess is that the number of guests in weddings would be limited initially and might take months to lift all restrictions; on the other hand, the border would also take months to open to interstates and foreign countries, should your guests may not attend due to Covid restrictions, wedding live stream would be a good investment to get your family and friends to virtually participate your special day.
We are ready to work with you and be a part of your wedding. All our team members will be fully vaccinated by October this year. We still have spots for wedding videography and live stream in 2022, please do not hesitate to contact us for booking.
I look forward to working with you.
Stay safe!!
Same Sex Weddings | The Epping Club Weddings | Indian Wedding Videographer
Love is love.
Over the years I filmed few gay and lesbian weddings in Sydney, however this was one of the most unforgettable one.
I still remember when I first met N and P at their house, I had a lovely chat about their wedding plan, learnt their story, discussed some details about their traditional rituals, talked about what was happening at the place where I born, Hong Kong. I love listening my clients’ stories, but also love to share mine.
It was a two days weddings. The first day involved traditional ceremonies, and the second involved civil ceremony and formal reception at Epping Club.
I was so pleased to witness and capture their wedding under the new same sex marriage has been legal.
Love is love.
Wedding photography and videography packages
One for All and All for One
I am in the industry for nearly 12 years. One of the biggest challenges that I ALWAYS hear from my wedding clients is the hassle of finding the right photographer AND videographer at the same time. It’s hard to get both right and more often it’s usually one way or the other. Why? It’s a misconception for both people to think videographer and photographer are the same. I can write a book look to explain how different we are but I’ll save this for later. In essence, videography is mainly about motion/animation whilst photography is more about still images. Sounds similar but they really are not the same. More importantly, each person has their own shooting style so it’s not easy to maintain consistency between your wedding photos and videos if art direction is not your strong suit.
I understand the pain and frustration and therefore at Sunny Siu Films, we manage everything for you. We offer a range of wedding photography and video packages* to suit your needs.
Pros:
You only have 1 point of contact. We have access to some of the best wedding photographers in town and will ensure the quality of the end product is superb.

Wedding reception at Moby Dicks Whale Beach
Lifestream, Livestream! At Sergeants Mess Chowder Bay
Brief
Michael and Lina’s wedding was on 09-Jan-2021. They are a very well-prepared couple. I was approached by them more than 12 months ago, yes, the non-Covid world. Original brief was church ceremony followed by reception at Sergeants Mess Chowders Bay.
Challenge
As we all know, the 2019 is a big eff up. Lockdown, social distancing, face masks, gathering restrictions etc etc. New rules come out everyday and they change everyday as well so it has been a roller coaster ride for many newly weds with all these changes. Uncertainties were the biggest challenge for this project. Restrictions were eased on today but tightened the next day, and this was on repeat. And the most shocking news drop was the Avalon cluster just right before Christmas last year, which resulted in the Northern beaches lockdown.
Approach
According to the government announcement, the number of guests in Sydney weddings were reduced from 300 to 100, dance floors were limited to 20 people. Luckily Michael and Lina adapted well and reacted fast. They decided to have the ceremony and reception at Sergeants Mess and do a livestream wedding services to cater the guests that couldn’t make the wedding. In this way, the wedding was able to reach to more friends and family members than originally planned as some of them are from interstates and overseas. On the wedding day we have set up four cameras to ensure all angles have been captured and the audience for the best view. Three of the cameras were for the livestream and we have also prepared three wireless lapel mics to guarantee the best sound quality.
Results
“Fantastic work @sunny_siu_films. Had great feedback from family and friends overseas and across Australia who absolutely loved it. Highly recommended, especially during COVID-19.”
